The Small House
his novel set mainly in modern Madras is superb. Action packed, there are hardly any dull sections. It is exciting as James Bond and at least as well written as anything by John Buchan or Helen MacInnes.
Two women - Roopamati an archaeologist (who had an arranged marriage) and her friend Taz ('love marriage') is a film maker - gradually uncover the secrets of their husbands' infidelities. Along the way Roopmati learns of the fate of her brother who was lost whilst swimming in the sea. To reveal any more of the plot would ruin what is a truly well-written social cliff-hanger. It would be churlish of me to find criticism of this book...so I won't!
Not only will this book get your adrenaline pumping, it will also keep you spellbound . As you race through it you will also learn quite a lot about south Indian history. Get your copy now!
